Federation	Chandley class Frigate After completing a Strategic Forces Study, Starfleet identified a number of weaknesses, amongst them, a lack of combat vessels with sufficient marine boarding parties or 'prize crews' capable of following through on successful campaigns against retreating or routed enemies. In many operations it was discovered that Starfleet vessels were held back on capturing disabled enemy vessels and largely ineffectual in taking control of enemy outposts, and therefore slow to press their advantage. To solve this problem Starfleet began developing designs capable of filling this niche, amongst those proposed was the Chandley, a design that has since proven to be the most effective. Once commissioned, the Chandley class not only met the requirements of a deep space heavy combat vessel, but could also beam its sizable marine complement in less than 6 minutes, allowing for almost instant follow through.
