Lyran

The Lyran Star Empire is a monarchy of 21 (20 following the establishment of the Lyran Democratic Republic) counties bordering the Hydran Kingdoms, the Klingon Empire, and the Kzinti Hegemony. Lyrans, as a species, are aggressive and prone to internecine strife, and their external borders have remained essentially static as a result. Whilst disdaining the methane-breathing Hydrans, Lyrans possess a ferocious, mutual hatred with the Kzinti, despite DNA evidence showing a common ancestry between them. Neither race takes this highly offensive suggestion lightly.
